
These are taken from the police blotter, which is sporadically published by Myrtle Beach Access. These crimes were reported in Horry County, South Carolina. Some of the more interesting I've marked in red.
Jan. 9
Runaway: An officer was called to a home on
Duckett Street, where a mother and her daughter were arguing. The mother believed
her daughter had sex with her boyfriend while she was
gone. After the mother confronted her daughter about the alleged affair, the
daughter left with the man. The daughter is on probation, the mother said,
and has a curfew.
Simple assault: A 33-year-old woman said she was summoned to her friend's house, and then ambushed. She arrived at her friend's, who then accused her of seeing her boyfriend. The woman said she wasn't seeing the man, but her friend picked up a stick and threatened her, she said. Her friend's mother hit the 33-year-old woman with a ketchup bottle, she said, and another woman pulled out a knife while an unknown man held the door closed.

Jan. 6
Stolen instrument: Someone took a saxophone
and case worth about $2,000 from a classroom at Georgetown
High School.

Jan. 8
Shoplifting: A 40-year-old man was arrested after
he stole four pints of car cleaner from a store on Broad Street. The man had
placed car cleaners under his shirt and started to walk out the door when
a store employee caught him with the items. The items were valued at $14.
Jan. 5
Larceny: An unknown
culprit stole a trumpet from a 53-year-old woman's grandson. The trumpet was
stolen from the band room at Loris Middle School. The trumpet was worth $800.
MYRTLE BEACH
Jan. 8
Shoplifting: A
48-year-old woman was arrested after she put a pair of Tommy Hilfiger overalls
under her dress at Belk at Myrtle Square Mall. As she ran out of the store,
the overalls fell onto the floor. Police saw her as she was running toward
Hardee's and arrested her. The overalls cost $98. The woman has two prior
convictions for shoplifting.
Jan. 7
Simple assault and battery: A boy said he and
two other boys got into a fight on the school bus between 10th and 30th avenues
North. The boy said one of the other boys was telling everyone where to sit.
The victim said he told the boy he'd sit where he wanted. He said both boys
hit him and he hit them back in self-defense. One of the other boys said he
was joking with another boy when the victim said, ``If you talked to me that
way, I'd hit you.'' The boy said it made him mad and he hit the victim.
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH
Jan. 8
Possession of Schedule I drugs (Ecstasy): About
10 p.m., police stopped a subject at 107 U.S. 17 N. for making an improper
lane change. The driver began to shake nervously and stutter his speech. The
suspect driver gave the officer his consent to search his vehicle and his
person. Two tablets were found in the suspect's pockets that contained the
Schedule I drug Ecstasy, a powerful stimulant-psychedelic drug. The suspect
was arrested and taken to jail. The drugs were placed into an evidence vault.
GEORGETOWN
Jan. 16
Property damage: Someone turned over a concrete
fountain in the First Baptist Church prayer garden at 1215 Highmarket St.
Damage was estimated at $500.
MYRTLE BEACH
Jan. 24
Marine mammal beaching (seal):
An officer saw a seal about 15 feet from the water's
edge at the 5400 block of North Ocean Boulevard. The seal had fresh wounds
on its hips, but the injuries did not appear to be severe. The seal returned
to the water before a S.C. Department of Natural Resources official arrived.
Jan. 22
Domestic dispute: A
39-year-old man at the Palace Resort said his 40-year-old wife had been drinking.
He said she came into his bedroom and wouldn't let him sleep. She turned on
the bathroom light and fan and began reading a book about angels. He told
her to leave him alone because he had to go to work in a few hours. She got
mad and threw beer across the room. The two agreed to sleep in separate rooms
that night and said they would talk about a separation the next day. The woman
had been charged with criminal domestic violence two weeks earlier.
Jan. 21
Harassment: A 38-year-old woman said a 64-year-old
man repeatedly calls her and stops by her workplace. She said he makes advances.
Police told him to stop, but the man continues to call her.
Jan. 19
Unlawful use of telephone, vandalism: A 34-year-old
man at Cedar Rock Apartments has been receiving obscene phone calls. Someone
broke his mailbox in half and put condoms in his mailbox.
Jan. 14
Civil dispute: The
manager of Hussey Apartments said a tenant moved from an apartment, leaving
dog feces on the floor. The shower head was broken, and the apartment had
an awful smell.

Jan. 22
Public disorderly conduct and urinating in
public: About 10:25 p.m., police responded to
the Main Street area concerning a male exposing himself and making gestures
to the public.
SURFSIDE BEACH
Jan. 11
Vandalism: Someone shot a hole in a dump truck door at Mike's Landscaping
Inc. on Azalea Drive at Glenns Bay Road. Damage is estimated at $250.
Dude, they shot my dump truck!

Saxaphone and trumpet stolen, husband beaten.
