Landed in Europe during the longest days of the year and quickly found myself surrounded by smokers and tempted by that Ol Devil tobaccy. Immediately I set to work on a tam (tam o'shanter, beret or brimless hat) for my hostess and a box of nicorette.
Once I finished the tam, I asked my travel pal what I should make next and she suggested a sling for my trusty Nalgene bottle, I lit a borrowed cigarette and set to work.
Fiber
Jello & Kool aid dyed cotton
for both. The tam is an ice lime blue but photographs as white.
Stitches & Directions
The tam is made of single crochets, with chain stiches
for the band. The bottle holder is alternating single and double stitches.
It was done as tube. Both items were tried on a few times and adjusted during
construction. Wish I'd have made the strap a wee bit longer so I could sling
it across my chest.
Tips
When photographing craft items, be sure to adjust items
so any dropped stitches don't show, duh!
Location
Made in Amsterdam, and Volendam. How cool is it that
you can park your boat in front of your house. I mean look!
I love my Nalgene water bottle,it is handy and nearly indestructible. It's tough non porous Lexan surfaces have endured high speed wrecks, excessive alcohol storage and freezing. I wish I got as much use out of every $7 I spent.
